DC's sick article on Women's day

I was going through DC and suddenly realized it's woman's day! It's not uncommon for our Indian magazines and the TV channels to hype something non-Indian. They are under assumption that it makes them move along with time. The more you go away from your roots the more modern you are! Well let all these fancy 'makeovers' work on your body not your mind!

I am surely not in 'Shivsena' or any thing like that that oppose the celebrations of these '*.*'s day'. In fact I argue with many of my friends who feel it's ridiculous celebrating mother's day or any such day. They say you can not show affection on your mother only on mother's day and not care about her the rest of the days. Well it doesn't mean that you are showing affection or sending her gifts on this particular day alone, you just are creating an occasion to be expressive and show her off your love. That doesn't mean you don't care her the rest of the year, just like celebrating your birthday doesn't mean that you are unhappy about your birth the rest of 364 days. Well creating occasions is important in our busily galloping lives. Then why am I cribbing?

I came across this article in DC about women power, special one for women's day. The headline was quite intriguing 'Learn to wear pants in your relationship and live life on your own terms',,, well how can I miss some thing on women power,,, I was expecting some thing bold from women like Kiran Bedi etc etc,,, but it turned out to be a dumb article that least suits the occasion. It was on how Kareena Kapoor made her new found love, Saif, act like a love sick puppy around her,,, how Deepika Padukone juggled three eligible bacherlors - businessman Nihar Pandya, cricketer Yuvraj Singh and actor Ranbir Kapoor ruling the relationships on her terms, and how live-in relationship is the new manthra for women. These actors/actresses change their partners as we change our clothes,,, Is this what we should be remembering on Woman's day??? I know it's not Indian culture to celebrate Women's day but there is nothing wrong in picking up good from other cultures. But let's keep our identity and not go with fancy things thinking it is making us modern and sophisticated.
